Would be a nice theoretically, but I think the benefits don't justify
the added complexity. It's not as if the IA class is slower, it just has
smaller availability guarantees. And finally, metadata is only accessed
on mount, umount and every 24h. So depending on your usage pattern, this
may be a lot less frequent than file contents.

As I understand it, it's simply a different pricing model, availability is the same. IA costs 50% less to store and twice as much to retrieve.

One problem is that IA objects have a minimum storage duration of 30 days. Thus each of the metadata objects that is removed is charged at 30 days. There is also a minimum storage size of 128kB.

Not sure if you think any of this is worth worrying about?
