SSN STATEMENT ON KING MSWATI’S APPOINTMENT OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS AND
RAPIST NEPHEW.

SSN- statement – 14 April 2019

The Swaziland Solidarity Network (SSN) notes with dismay but not surprise
the appointment by King Mswati of his family members into different
advisory boards. These include four of his own children and one of his
nephews who is a rape accused. The king’s nephew, Prince Sicelo is accused
of raping a University of Swaziland student in 2018 and despite
overwhelming evidence against him, is yet to be arrested.

These appointments by King Mswati confirms our long held view that the king
believes that the country is his own farm where he does what he wants
without taking into consideration the people’s views or interests. This
abhorrent and barbaric behavior can be located back to the 12 April 1973
historical humiliation of the Swazi nation by his late tyrant father King
Sobhuza II when he abrogated the Westminster constitution, declaring
himself absolute ruler with supreme powers over the three arms of
government.

As the SSN, we call for the people of Swaziland to unite as a fighting unit
and push against the King Mswati led tinkhundla regime. We further call on
all freedom loving people of the world to hold hands with the people of
Swaziland and offer them unconditional solidarity as they fight to claim
what is rightfully theirs.
