Regarding the dua: 1. There is no copyright restriction for the dua itself of course, since it is a revelation. 2. Islammedia does not put a copyright restriction on the recitation of the dua by the shaikh who recited it. Yet regarding the translation of Hilali-Khan, or any work of a person: 1. There can be copyright restrictions for the work itself. Sometimes the author is the copyright holder, sometimes it is someone else, such as the place that he works at for example, such as a publishing house or so. 2. If someone writes this book on a computer or print it in a book (such as a publisher), there is copyright for the presenting the work. So in the case you mentioned, Saaid does not put copyright restriction on its presentation of the book in a DOC format. But there still remains the issue of the work itself (ie. the translation content), who is the copyright holder ? And are there copyright restrictions or not ? Unfortunately when the bro on LinuxAC went to ask about this translation, he didn't get a clear answer about who is the copyright holder for the translation work itself.
