Claudio, the old GDM setup tool and GDM are very different to the new versions and so the old code cannot be used.
As requested by Seb please open new bugs for new features in this tool. This bug is titled "gdm 2.26 has no graphical configuration tool". The Karmic GDM now has a configuration tool therefore this bug is resolved.
