I usually grade and return assignments shortly after the due date. There
are always a few students every semester who have some approximation of a
good excuse for turning in an assignment late. Since I have already
returned the assignment in SMC, there is a new folder of the form
"Assignment Name - graded." My problem is that these students often
complete their late assignment in this graded folder instead of the
original assignment folder. Then when I collect their assignment, nothing
has been done. I can open the returned file instead and grade that
(although this is an extra step for me). However, I no longer have a copy
of their work in my own project (I don't think there's a way to collect the
graded file, other than opening the student's project and manually copying
it to mine).

I think it would help if "graded" appeared at the beginning of the folder
name instead of the end, e.g., "Graded - Assignment Name."

Another option would be to have a folder called "Graded," and all graded
assignments would be in this folder. I would like this option, since my
student's projects are cluttered enough with my assignments and handouts
(15-20 folders), and when I grade the number of folders increases.

Does anyone else have an opinion about this?
