I thought the Solaris specific fixes were planned for 3.1, but I see
polybori-0.3.1.p4 still fails to build on my Sun Blade 2000, which is
running Solaris 10 update 4. The issue is one you know of - Sun's
tools being used instead of GNU ones in the polybori Makefile, for
code which suffers GNUisms.
