Is that correct? FWIW, I just upgraded my 10.5.4 system to 10.5.5, and in the process, installed the "Update 2" package for Java. Now, I can't build 3.1.2, either with the cut-down PATH variable or my normal one. Prior to the update, the former PATH variable allowed a build for which things like emacs worked; the latter did not. The build, BTW, exhibits these symptoms (hangs with "Checking whether java compiler works"). Justin -- Justin C.
