Would it be possible to have a faster disk system in *general* (i.e.,
in the /home part)?
I don't know, I am no hardware expert, perhaps NFS==slow.
But that would be a nice thing to have.

By the way, I am -1 to having just two more identical machines. Why
not foster some diversity?

Actually, for some applications, sage.math isn't the fastest. My
cohomology programs are much faster on an Intel Core2 Duo Linux laptop
(!) or on bsd.math than on sage.math. And that, to my understanding,
is not due to disk problems: I am talking about CPU time, and IIRC
this does not include the time for disk IO.

So, if some hardware exert knows a *different* powerful platform,
speak up!
