Yes, I did.

Thank you Minh. That has solved it - we now have a release of Sage
which builds irrespective of whether the Sun compilers are present or
not!!! That must be a real stop forward.

drkir...@swan:[~/sage-4.3.0.1] $ make

Sage build/upgrade complete!

drkir...@swan:[~/sage-4.3.0.1] $ uname -a

Can that be put on the web site, hopefully in a place where it is very obvious

I think it would be wisest if I built a binary here, and uploaded
that. It wil take some time as first I would need to build it on a
old/slow computer which has the first release of Solaris 10. Then I
would have to upload it. But it should then work on any Solaris 10
machine, whereas the binary I currently have could only be guaranteed
to work on Solaris 10 update 7 or later.

BTW, such an old version of Solaris could not be installed on 't2' -
the machine is too new. I think the earliest version of Solaris 10
supported on 't2' would be Solaris 10 update 4.

I specifically installed this version of Sage on an old machine, for
building Sage binaries. William did mention he might be able to get me
access to an older (but faster) machine at Harvard which runs Solaris
9, but get that upgraded to Solaris 10. But until that happens, it
will be best if I build a binary at home and upload it.
