First, it's a good idea to keep the default notebook page very
well-polished. That's the first thing about Sage that many people see,
so we should make it good.

It may be a rule, but it's not always a very good idea. We should pick a
style and be consistent, so long as the meaning is not obscured.

That's a good idea.

"Mathematics packages" would also sound better to those would might
write "maths packages"...

Your suggestions 4 through 8 also sound very good. Make a ticket and put
up a patch.
