sage-edu is definitely in this category. The issues discussed there
are (supposed to be) primarily about education itself, not support or
development, though if there are intersections or "wrong" posts they
are then cross-posted to the appropriate lists. It has proved to be
quite valuable.

sage-marketing, and probably others, were proposed because people on
sage-devel didn't necessarily want to be bothered with tons of details
of that nature. It would be worth discussing closing that if it isn't
achieving its purpose.

sage-solaris was started to coordinate better for Solaris, I suppose -
David K. would know :) sage-windows was similar, and I think is good
in that provides a central place to look for information about that
and discuss it. In fact, given Google groups' lousy search
mechanisms (and the fact that general Google searches nearly always
put archives like markmail ahead of the Google group results!), that
is an argument in and of itself.

sage-newbie could be closed, naturally, as it was for a specific book
project which is now defunct. I don't know if one can actually
"close" such groups.
