At #11709 we have a nice implementation of FareySymbols and apart from some small changes the current patch is ready for inclusion into Sage. But it is mostly written in C++.
Do we accept patches to the Sage library that contain C or C++ code? I couldn't find anything about this in the development guide, and it might need some discussion. I think we should, but such a decision certainly effects maintainability. Definitely the code at #11709 is well integrated into Sage. In my opinion it wouldn't make to much sense to create a separate spkg for it.
