The desktop machine my department provides for me, on which I usually
install Sage even though I do most real work on bigger and better
boxes, was unable to build Sage-5.5.  (I usually only build full
releases on this machine as I do not use it for any development work.)

The problem is in building Atlas.  The gcc version is
gcc version 4.3.4 [gcc-4_3-branch revision 152973] (SUSE Linux)

I have attached the relevant part of the install log.  It complains
about CPU throttling but I think we override that (I do not have su
access to this machine), and also something I don't understand about
compilers.

I could build Sage-5.4.rc0 OK on the same machine.

Any idea what is wrong?
