In #19781 there are some issues with several optional packages that don't build or work correctly on 32 bits. Volker points that the lack of availability of 32 bits platforms make them harder to test and fix. So, should we change the policy about it?
Personally I think that intel 32 bits should still be a supported architecture (maybe some time from now it shall be completely deprecated, but i don't think we are there yet). In the meantime, i don't think there is a big problem in moving these packages from optional to experimental. But that is just my opinion, I think it is worth discussing.
