commutative algebra in Sage is a mess, and the multivariate polynomial
backend hardcodes Singular.

I (and many others - e.g. people really want Macaulay2 advanced
functionality, e.g. resolutions, available) really would like to see
an improvement here.

Where and how do we even start fixing this?
