No, I just checked: Those files of p_group_cohomology that got installed
by sdh_pip_install are listed in the json file. Those installed by
"$MAKE install" of course aren't.

If sdh_make_install and sdh_pip_install can share a single json file,
then there would be no need to split the package. I.e., the question is
whether "sdh_pip_install" will override the json file created by
"sdh_make_install", or whether it will append to it.
