Funny you should mention the puppy linux version. I burned a few
copies of that ISO today but none of them booted. The md5sum checked
out right after downloading. Once in a while I may hit a bad CD or a
bad burner, but I used burners that never failed before and 3 CDs in a
row failing is not likely (maybe 1 in 100 or 1 in 200 is a linux
coaster).
So, I tried version 4.4.1, based on slax, and it booted fine. However,
now I have the problem I had with the 4.2 CD in reverse! I have dual
nics (ethernet cards), so:
The SAGE liveCD 4.2, based on ubuntu, runs very nicely but only
recognizes one of my ethernet cards, the public one - so, i can use
Firefox to get on the internet and a SAGE server online. Without ssh
on this CD, online is the only way my students can save their work.
So, I don't understand why one would start a local SAGE sever from the
CD and do work there with no way to print or save....
The SAGE liveCD 4.4.1, based on slax, has a nice KDE desktop with a lot
of apps on it including a local SAGE server. Now, this CD boots up
recognizing the other ethernet card, the private one, and includes ssh
so I can save work on my sftp server in my office. However, I cannot
surf the web or print (as the printer network is on the public nic).
Now what,
