I'm not sure what the problem is in this case, but you can definitely
use the notebook interface without an Internet connection; I do so all
the time. In fact, I just tested this right now. However, you may
need to manually type in http://localhost:8000 for your browser, or
even a specific place on that domain with the VMWare image (my
students have experienced annoyance with that on occasion).
You should still reply to Harald's post, because maybe there is
something weird that happens with certain configurations. But in
general you don't have to be online. (Unless you are referring to
www.sagenb.org, yes, that definitely needs Internet!)
