In some further searching, I found this relevant thread from the jmol-developer list, particularly this message: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg09141.html Sure enough, when I right-click on a plot and select "About Jmol", it says that there is a total of 64MB of memory, and 0 MB is free. So maybe it is a memory problem...
