The Enthought Tool Suite [http://code.enthought.com/projects/]
has a lot of external dependencies,
The easiest way to install ets-3.1.1.spkg is
* download the spkgs from
[http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/jsp/SPKGS/ETS/] into
a $SAGE_ROOT of a reasonable recent sage
* download the shell script
[http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/jsp/SPKGS/ETS/install_ets.sh] and
run it in $SAGE_ROOT
* wait a long time :)
After installation do a ./sage -sh and type mayavi2 to test the
installation of
mayavi.
You can use mayavi mlab from within sage by starting with ./sage -wthread
