No problems on either OS X (with modifications for clang) or taurus: with
`SAGE_CHECK=yes`, all packages built and passed their tests. I ran `make
ptestlong` and all tests passed on both platforms.
I think that this is probably ready to go, once the clang changes are
reinstated. I also think what you've done with the history is fine.
