This also builds and passes tests on skynet machine iras, which often has
problems not found on other platforms. (Actually, gsl fails its self-
tests, but it does that with the old mpir and linbox spkgs, so no
regression there. I couldn't find a ticket for this, though...)
So I think this is pretty close. What else should be checked?
