I hope we can get this into Sage -- version 1.2 has
[http://matplotlib.org/users/whats_new.html#pgf-tikz-backend support for
PGF/TikZ output] which opens up some pretty amazing opportunities with
SageTeX. (Not that I will have time to implement that in the near future,
but getting this upgrade in is a necessary first step.)
