As I already typed that, here is a bit of info:
* On the 4.8 install, I have the usual "Python build finished, but the
necessary bits to build these modules were not found" and the modules
listed include _curses and _curses_panel.
* On the 5.9.beta2 install, it only lists the _curses_panel module and I
have a new worrying line "Failed to build these modules" which only lists
_curses. And indeed before in the log, there's an error:
