You should just be able to do `sage --docbuild reference/matroids
inventory` and then `sage --docbuild reference/matroids html`. Building
the documentation this way is a lot like running LaTeX: you need to run it
several times to resolve references, links, etc. Running `sage --docbuild
all html` (and the same with `pdf` in place of `html`) automates the
process, building the docs twice. Using any other options just builds
once. (This was a design decision discussed at #6495.)
