 component. At the moment it only wraps gcc and does not do anything for
 other compilers.

 The main problem I see is that this requires a working C++ compiler even
 if we (just) want to bootstrap Sage's GCC (although GCC 4.8 and later
 require a C++ compiler to build anyway).
