We have to save a total of about 70 ms in 93 function calls. This is not
much, and perhaps it could be obtained by cythoning the computation of
_cmp_key.
Also, you do
{{{
assert not isinstance(self, JoinCategory)
}}}
and later comment
{{{
for cat in self._super_categories: # not self.super_categories() to avoid
join categories!
}}}
So, is the assertion not needed, after all?
