This might be a good target for Sage Days 51 (22-26 July,
[http://wiki.sagemath.org/sagedaysleiden]). For now I just checked that
the patch applies to 5.11.beta3 (with some fuzz) and passes doctests. I
got one failure (a different embedding than expected is generated),
probably because I am working under #14888.
