 There's no way to do this without patching Python.  The timedelta function
 has explicit {{{PyInt_Check}}}, {{{PyLong_Check}}}, and
 {{{PyFloat_Check}}}.  So, unless we make integer a subclass of int/long,
 this won't work without an upstream change.
