The previous branch looked (on the Trac "commits" page) like two parallel
and unconnected linear "chains" of commits, with all commits in the first
also appearing in the other. When I was rebasing this, Git spit out
several messages saying something to the effect that the patch had already
been applied (in some cases I had to resolve a conflict first). After the
rebasing, there was only one chain of commits left.

OK, let's leave it as is unless it creates trouble for Vincent (or someone
else who might have been using this branch).
