I can confirm that not having this patch in sage is hampering a lot of
development. First of all, there are already many patches that depend on
it (such as #14102 for example), but also projects that are stagnant since
it has not yet been merged. For example, Franco has code on the
representation theory of the symmetric group that would need this (and
#11111), Christian has code on Coxeter groups etc.. It has been a long
wait! When code cannot be merged (like the dependent tickets), they
usually do not get maintained and they rot away! So I strongly, strongly
recommend to try to merge this ticket soon!
