Thing is, I have experienced two spooky and unexplainable bugs in the
coercion system (I believe) in the last few weeks:

which both magically disappeared when I added in the #10963 branch. I
don't know if this is because #10963 fixes some subtle underlying cause,
or just because some patches which were merged in lately were already
built under the preassumption that #10963 were there and would not really
work without. So at least from my viewpoint, the #10963 branch is more
stable than current master...
