 No idea if they are identical, and no idea how one could even test whether
 they ''are'' identical.

 Anyway, I pushed my version of the merge, since all tests in
 `src/sage/rings/` passed and since the examples from the ticket
 description of #12217 and the description of this ticket are fixed.
