 On can certainly argue for other ways of labeling things. In the end,
 doing it this way is one step vs. two separate steps, so its easier for
 me.

 Easy, there will be a `build/pkgs/configure/package-version.txt` that
 contains the integer `n`. Reading it and incrementing it by one is
 standard bash `$[n+1]`
