 Hi Mike - can you just clarify why this doesn't need to be fixed?
 (Assuming that the spacing changes weren't high enough priority for their
 own ticket.)  At the very least we should add an example showing how to
 work around this using `subgroup`, though I find it odd that we wouldn't
 also want `subgroups` to keep the numbering.
