The following should show the effect of properly caching the vector space
category:

sage: M=matrix(GF(5),6,6,range(36))
sage: %timeit M.right_kernel_matrix(basis='computed') # category is
repeatedly computed
1000 loops, best of 3: 377 us per loop
sage: N=random_matrix(GF(5),10,7) # this somehow triggers a proper
caching
sage: %timeit M.right_kernel_matrix(basis='computed') # much faster with
proper caching
10000 loops, best of 3: 190 us per loop
