Comment:

 I have just pushed my changes (sorry, I keep forgetting how to push to a
 specific public branch---unfortunately, the dev scripts keep pushing on my
 private branch even if the branch field of the ticket is public).

 The new commit fixes the docs in a couple more places. I don't know if we
 really want to catch the corner case of coercing the path semigroup of an
 empty path (i.e., the empty set) into a path algebra. We could do so by
 making `_coerce_map_from_` return a default conversion map rather than
 "True". I wouldn't care, though.
