Yes, although that seems like a hack that was only needed in old versions
of ipython. Now ipython doesn't push an open ended quote state to the
transformers, so the preparser doesn't actually need to keep track of this
anymore.
I think there is a lot that can be done in general to clean up the
preparser in general, but I think that is better fit for another ticket.
