With your changes, Sage doesn't complain anymore if the user does not
specify the name of the generator, but silently names it "a":

sage: K = NumberField(x^2 + 1); K
Number Field in a with defining polynomial x^2 + 1
}}}
I don't like this; since the name is part of the defining data, I think we
should insist on the user specifying the name. If you think this should
be changed, I think it is better to create a new ticket so this interface
issue can be discussed separately from the technical changes made in this
ticket.
