OK, I misunderstood the discussion on this ticket so far (I did not yet
look at the code carefully); I somehow concluded that your implementation
answered Simon's question from comment:13 with "yes". So do I understand
correctly that two number fields are explicitly allowed to be equal but
not identical? Is this really desirable? From the
[http://sagemath.org/doc/reference/structure/sage/structure/unique_representation.html
manual page] on unique representation:
"Instances of a class have a unique representation behavior when instances
evaluate equal if and only if they are identical (i.e., share the same
memory representation), if and only if they were created using equal
arguments. [...] This behaviour is typically desirable for parents and
categories."
