Probably not. Anyway, I gitified it, thus I'm pushing it, even if it
doesn't work. At least, it will be easier to read Simon's proposed
changes.
There were conflicts with #10999 (which is another bug related to
uniqueness) in `ell_rational_field.py`. I hopefully merged them correctly.
