WARNING: there will be some non trivial conflicts with the latest changes
in #16058.
The easiest for me to resolve them is to replay my changes on top of
#16058 and create a new clean branch which I am going to work on now. The
branch u/nthiery/16058-combinat-doc-index is just here for display; don't
work on top of it!
