As suggestedin the developers guide, I just ran

$git checkout master
Switched to branch 'master'
Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 1992 commits.
$ git reset --hard trac/master
fatal: ambiguous argument 'trac/master': unknown revision or path not in
the working tree.
Use '--' to separate paths from revisions

I am not sure what to do, the developers guide does help here.
