@vbraun I think we should open a different ticket for fixing the
categories. In this ticket the `LinearCode` class is changed to use the
new category framework. I will have to check the latest changes, but they
seem quite ok at first glance.
I will open a different ticket for addressing the error messages given by
the categories. Does this sound reasonable to you?
