 Yep, `CFLAGS=-flto` should work, provided your compiler and linker support
 it (binutils at least >=2.22 should, GCC needs to be configured
 accordingly -- AFAIK Sage's isn't).  Not sure right now whether
 `LDFLAGS=-flto [-fuse-linker-plugin]` was needed, too, but in any case
 omitting it shouldn't cause any error.
