 I'm basically ready to start moving on this: waiting for #16466 to be
 merged in to develop. Completely realise that we could get going without
 waiting on that but am just not completely confident in my ability to not
 make a mess. Once it's in develop I'll branch from that and it'll be ready
 to rock n roll! :) (A lot of the code is ready, it'll just take some time
 making sure docs and tests are up to standard).
