I am not sure that -Wl argument would do anything apart confusing ld. You
can always fix the problem after the install. The install_name_tool can be
used to do the fix. And for your R case the problem is that SAGE_LOCAL
isn't expanded. You shouldn't have used a variable there. I thought it
would be problematic and it appears it is.
