I would put this

algorithm = kwds.get('algorithm')
if algorithm is not None and algorithm != "ginac":
raise ValueError("unknown algorithm %r for %s"%(algorithm,self))
}}}
right before calling Ginac (towards the end of `Function.__call__`).
