does not only result in problems with introspection of cached methods, but
the cached methods can't even be called. So, I suppose the design flaw can
be addressed there, too.
Unless #17814 really requires major refactoring anyway, I wouldn't do it
on the same ticket.
Also, I certainly don't want to force you to "fix" this. It works as it
is.
