Rebased since we had a conflict with
[http://git.sagemath.org/sage.git/commit/?id=e216b6fd358015ff4d22a11e24ed75d491121245
e216b6f] from #16908.
Am I right that we are just waiting for Jeroen or someone else to give
this a positive review? Or is there still something missing which I should
address in order to let this proceed?
